AVDIROS RED 2020 VOURVOUKELI ESTATE

This wine was named “Avdiros” after the son of the god Hermes, from Opounda in Locris. According to Greek mythology, the demigod Hercules built the city of Avdiros in Thrace in memory of his friend Avdiros, who was killed in battle with the wild horses of Diomedes, king of the Thracians. The label typically depicts the wild horse of Thrace. Avdiros Red is a special blend of two Greek varieties (the oldest Greek variety, Limnio, meets the rare Pamidi) and a foreign variety (the French Syrah). Syrah gives primary aromas of red fruits, which add freshness, while Limnio, aged in barrels for 8-12 months, adds peppery aromas, as well as notes of cocoa and smoke. The wine is smooth on the palate, with soft tannins and moderate acidity. A full-bodied wine with a pleasant finish.
